On October 16, 2018, it was reported that a Grimm spinoff was in development at NBC. The potential new series would feature a female Grimm as the lead character and could feature some of the original cast, either as regulars, or in recurring roles. The pilot was written by Melissa Glenn (Marvel's Iron Fist). Glenn will executive produce, along with Grimm EPs Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. Original showrunners/co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf would return as consulting producers.[1]

On May 12, 2019, NBC released their upcoming 2019-20 fall schedule, which did not include the Grimm spinoff.[2] Elizabeth Tulloch later confirmed on her Twitter page, in a since-deleted tweet, that the show was not picked up.

On April 30, 2020, several members of the Grimm cast (Bree Turner, Claire Coffee, Jacqueline Toboni, Reggie Lee, Silas Weir Mitchell, and Sasha Roiz) discussed the potential of a spinoff series during a YouTube Q&A[3], stating that in the years since the series ended, there has been very frequent discussion among the cast about being on a Grimm spinoff. Claire Coffee, in particular, said, "You can't say we're not trying is all I would say," in regards to the cast trying to get a spinoff series started or picked up.
