Well, it's more of a feeling. He seems to be playing it too cool. Like he is just acting as if he don't know about all the stuff. Might be Verrat or something. And now he's taken off with Truble.. I just don't trust him. I'm very curious ^^
You got "too cool"? I got "failing to take in the gravity of the situation" and "generally naive". Except when he was talking to Nick, Trubel and Juliette in just his robe, which gave of vibes of "forgetting that this is not his house".
It could be that he he is taking everyone for fools, but I doubt it. If he is, it doesn't make sense. He has no motive to deceive them. It could be that he was caught and the Hundjager threatened him into telling about the key and retrieving it, but that does not make sense either. We know that he is not nearly as brave as Nick or Trubel, or as secretive as Renard. If he was being forced to betray them, he would be showing it through nervous behaviour (far more noticeable than he was otherwise showing).
On the other hand, if this is an imposter, this makes even less sense. How would the Hundjager impersonate him. They were definatly not at his home to acquire his hair for an impersonation potion. They were tearing his home apart looking for something, which only makes sense if they were looking for the key. If they wanted him, they would have kept the house pristine and ambushed him when he got back.
whoops, didn't mean to hit reply. Anyway...
Given what we know about the circumstances of the encounter, assuming they did capture josh and they got him to tell them everything, there is no way they would have been prepared to do an impersonation. They would need the correct zaubertrank in order to Impersonate him and, as Adalind and Elizabeth demonstrated, this can take a while. No idea how long Adalind worked on hers, but Elizibeths seemed to take over 16 hours to complete. Taking into account travel times and however long it would take to find a cooperative hexenbiest to make the potion, there simply wouldn't be enough time. Also of note is that these potions do not last more that a day and, if episode 6 and 7 are of any indication, josh has been staying with Nick for at least a month. Then there is The fact that Josh recognized Trubel, which is more significant than it sounds. How would an imposter know who she was? The royals do not know she exists (Victor thinks Nick killed Stewart). Even if they got Josh to talk and describe her, that doesn't explain how the imposter would recognize her immediately, which would require timey prep that they would not be able to afford. Not to mention the fact that, given she was sneaking around in nicks home with a knife, it might actually be more reasonable to assume she was an intruder rather than a guest.
The final reason why I doubt josh is a traitor is that it doesn't make sense story wise. Betrayals only have weight when we have known them sufficiently well and sufficiently long that we can be shocked by it. We barely know Josh, so his betrayal would have no weight at all. I would say that he would have to be prominent in at least a dozen episodes before we can expect this sort of thing from Josh.
Now Josh could be a tool being used by Chazes to draw Trubel in. Not knowing what chazes game plan is, all ideas are purly speculation . But occam razor says the simple solution is the most likely. So Josh being a vehicle for Trubel to leave and then comes back makes the most senses. When Josh first should up it was for no more then a reason to get one more key to Nick. The dad dies and Josh is not a Grimmm thus the key has to go to Nick. They took a long route to fill a whole. We konw the Royals have 4 keys Nick has two that leaves only one more key and one more Grimm. This can be a new character or in Truble and Joshes spin-off Truble could find her families key allowing her to find out the truth about who she is and where she comes from. What if she is the seventh key. aka ingrid beauchamp from witches of east end. that would explain why they needed to get the sixth keys out of the way. And why they involved her in finding it. So later on when not with Nick she would know what the keys mean.
I don't think Josh is up to anything sinister, but I get the sense from all the hints the show seems to be dropping with his inquiries about whether he'll ever be a Grimm that there may very well come a day when he becomes one. Not all offspring of Grimms become Grimms themselves though, so we'll have to wait and see what happens there, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was in the cards for him.
