Hi Grimmaniac! In regard to the upcoming UCP migration, the FANDOM team has identified the use of TabViewhere may have problems working with UCP.
To can get your community ready as quickly as possible, I would like to suggest that your wiki's editors replace TabView on the Season pages (or whereever else) with an alternative. For options available, you can check out a Best Practice preferred method and we can come up with a solution to replace TabView. Taking care of this now before migration ensures that the wiki will not break Tabview on UCP. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks!
Hi RosAlex, I was thinking this was possibly too much of an assumption to think that the writers were referencing a prior episode when they had never used a number in an episode, i.e. a hotel room, to reference a current episode before, but after going back and reviewing the episode, I think you were right, so I will restore your edit. Thanks for checking on this!
Hey! This isn't happening soon, but just letting you know that when UCP rolls around, the Chat feature will not be ported. I'm not sure about the status of Chat here, do you think it's core to the wiki or is it barely used? If it's still important, you can try setting up a Discord; if it isn't, you can go ahead and ignore this message!
Chat is indeed now rarely used here, but there's one huge caveat -- we just recently did a Grimm Wiki Live Chat event a couple weeks ago, and I was thinking of doing another one sometime in the fall. When do you think UCP will happen?
The date for UCP migration here has yet to be determined, but telling you sooner rather than later was the prudent option so as to give you time to decide and prepare. It is possible to still hold the Live Chat in the Discord platform, though.
Hi there! Noticing the infoboxes could use an update, I was thinking of converting all the current infoboxes into portable. With portable infoboxes, it will make editing more fluid, accessible, and easier to modify. How do you feel about updating them? I can handle migrations to portable if you are fine using portable infoboxes. Also, if you want to keep the design the same, I can do that as well!
Hey there! I've been tasked to omit the "Home" title that appears on the main page. But nothing to worry about this being a major change; this is meant to improve search engine optimization (the ability to detect the wiki on search engines) and decreed by FANDOM. The rest of the header will remain the same so you don't have to worry about this impacting the main page!
How are you doing? I'm sharing with you an important message about the upcoming United Community Platform (UCP) this year. As you know, FANDOM and Gamepedia will receive a huge renovation for improvements of editor/user/visitor experience planned to allow all extensions currently available to the MediaWiki engine. And due to that, the community will be going through phases of the development. To stay up to date about these upcoming changes, the blog is available for you to reference. Additionally, please be on the lookout for UCP phase releases and keep the users informed. For any questions and others, as always, please don't hesitate to message me about them, and I will be happy to answer them for you!
Hi there! Quick update on FANDOM's end-of-the-year term. First, there will be changes with featured videos: as of the end of this December, "Featured" Video will be receiving some trial run experiments in hopes of improving its quality, reasons being that videos featured on a page tend to be outdated or spout all the information the user can already read on the article. The main goal will be to figure out how to complement wiki content. Because of that, you might receive a video called "The Loop" play for anonymous users, which will be meant purely to collect visitation data in the vein of the Global Taxonomy method. It won't affect all users, so you might not notice. But if you want to learn more, you can go to the blog post. For more info on Fandom's year in review, you can check out the community post. Let me know if you have any questions, and happy holidays!
Hi again! I'm writing to let you know about the Global Taxonomy. This is a feature that accumulates wikis a user visits into a list of recommended wikis tailored to them. In this context, it'll attract fans and newcomers to the wiki! You can read more about it on the blog, plus if you're interested in template use, you can check out this link, too. Hope you find them helpful!
