His home was destroyed in an explosion, which he managed to avoid being killed in when he sent a weight flying out the window, to which he went to retrieve.

This happened a month after another explosion destroyed his brother, Rolf's home, with Rolf in it. After being taken in for questioning by Nick, Monroe responds to a call given earlier and comes to pick him up, promising to keep him safe in his house.

Things start off well until Hap's sister, Angelina, arrives to also protect Hap. That very night, Angelina's feelings cause her to provoke Monroe into leaving Hap in the house alone, while the two have some fun in the woods all night.

A regretful decision it was, as the next morning, Orson came to the house in the guise of a delivery man and shot Hap, killing him.
