Demons are type of being, what exactly they are is unknown, but they are not Wesen. The only known type of demon is Volcanalis, which was known to live in volcanoes and cause those volcanoes to erupt when angered.

Demons have been shown to be incredibly possessive beings when it comes to items in nature, and view them as their own. Taking the items in question will bring the demons' wrath on the thief. Their exact numbers are unknown, but there are ones living in many major volcanoes, as Wu found many cases of similar deaths near multiple volcanoes around the world.
