This was in the weapons thread and has digressed to another topic entirely so I thought I would put it here. I have been intrigued about the plot to get Diana back from Kelly and the many pitfalls that occurred that night.
Briefly, after having enough of Adalind's plodding, Kenneth decides to bring someone much more knowledgeable about Diana's whereabouts, the all powerful and irritable Juliette. Kenneth makes it plain from the getgo that he doesn't trust Juliette, but still uses her anyway. They hatch a plan, do some meticulous drawings on how to make it work, and by sending an innocent looking email, manage to get Kelly to come to Nick's house immediately and with Diana.
My thought on this is that Kenneth never expected Kelly to show up with Diana. Like most mothers in charge of children, he figured Kelly would naturally bring Nick in on this. She didn't and I think Kenneth switched to a plan of negotiating with her. In other words the royals get Diana. Kelly gets her life. That of course has been soundly disagreed with and that's perfectly fine. It is, after all, my supposition. But what exactly was the objective that night? Consider the following:
1. Kelly never left Portland and holed up somewhere nearby with Diana. Why?
Next, the ambush and attack. GrimmPower writes:
Kelly arrived and was attacked the moment she let Diana true the front door. We heard beating and screaming, before Kenneth enters the house with blood on his face, saying: “we got her”, looking at Diana, before adding” “and we got HER”. It was a pure ambush and execution, only made possible by Juliette abusing the trust placed in her by Nick. There was no reason for Kelly not to trust Juliette when she told her the house was safe..
2. The attack/ambush was completely unplanned. Keep in mind that the masterminds, Juliette and Kenneth have already carefully drafted up plans for the objective, which was to obtain Diana. An attack or ambush is the last thing they would want.
3. Taking it outside.
Again, the two masterminds would have planned everything to detail. When Kenneth orders that Kelly be taken outside, it's very clear that that was never in the plan either.
4. The neighborhood. Juliette provides Kenneth with names and locations of neighbors. Kenneth decides on which are key locations and has the neighbors murdered. It's never made clear why this is necessary. The objective was to get Kelly in the house and take Diana. The neighbors or their dwellings would have no impact on that objective.
5. The beheading. The objective was getting Diana, yet these people hang around for a beheading? It's never made clear why they would have the time or reasoning for this.
6. Rispoli tells the king that there was a setback and the Grimm "got away". Nick was never a part of the objective. It was always about Diana.
7. How many verrat does it take? For this objective, the most they might need one or two. I'm not sure how many they brought with them. Ten maybe?
