Appearances

Black Claw, also known as Schwarzkralle (SCHVAHRTZ-krah-luh; Ger. "black claw"), is a group of Wesen intent on living in a world where Wesen do not have to hide their true selves from society, and they are not hesitant to kill anyone who stands in their way, including any Wesen who refuse to join them or aren't a part of their cause. They do not view the latter group of Wesen as family or fellow "brothers and sisters." ("Wesen Nacht") ("Star-Crossed") They want to take control of the government ("Inugami") and they are dedicated to bringing back Wesen culture, traditions, and rituals, which they feel they have long been oppressed and persecuted for in the past by Kehrseite. ("Star-Crossed") One of their other main missions is to eradicate all things Grimm, including Grimms, ("Map of the Seven Knights") unless they can get the Grimm to join them. ("The Taming of the Wu") They are also willing to die for what they believe in. ("Eve of Destruction") They are opposed by Hadrian's Wall. They use a claw mark for their symbol, and their motto is "Occultatum Libera," which loosely translated, according to Monroe, means "free the hidden" or "free what's hidden." ("Clear and Wesen Danger") ("Wesen Nacht") Some members in Black Claw embezzle money to fund the group's activities, and other members recruit Wesen children within the foster care system who have been placed in a ward. ("Clear and Wesen Danger") ("Lost Boys") Some recruiters in Black Claw will go to the individual homes of Wesen and hand out flyers in person to organize meetings, which are essentially recruiting sessions. ("Star-Crossed") The group has a global presence and has the ability to quickly organize and carry out coordinated attacks.
