<p>The first thing to do is acknowledge the great age of the staff and zerstorer. They have both been around long enough to amass prophesies and legend relating to them. As zerstorer is otherworldly and the original wielder of the staff, it stands that the staff must be otherworldly. In fact, it is the staff that allows him to travel the worlds. Additinally, as there is a sort of wesen home world, it stands to reason that all of the supernatural forces are likely to originate outside of our world. Hexenbiests are able to slow the aging process as Henrietta confirms, and we know she is much weaker than eve who is much weaker than zerstorer. It seems plausible that he could have been around for tens of thousands of years and have lost the staff at some point, possibly due to enemy grimms. The staff was broken up on our world, but it was reassembled and brought to the mirror world so we know it can exist in other worlds. Additionally, as the power of the staff seems to be an attribute of the wood retained even when broken, it stands to reason that there is a source material and potentially other staves as well. We know grimms can mutate a little because of their strange interactions with cracher-mortels, musai, and jiamuru xiunte. The staff, as you said, has powers like the hexenbiest Diana, and as Nick is able to wield that same power in a more passive manner, it suggests a relation between the three species. The wesen in the mirror world understood Nick was a grimm I believe, so that would indicate that grimms did not originate on our world. More likely, the followed zerstorer as he set out to conquer, and their reputation as wesen killers is the result of this effort since wesen serve zerstorer. As for him being a hybrid, this is unlikely. His dependence on the staff suggests it is the heart of his power not an additional source. If he were just a hybrid his abilities would be independent. As you said, hexenbiests corrupt their hosts. The staff does too as it had an obvious obsessive effect on nick and zerstorer. So if we consider the staff as the source of the corruption, it is its vestigial power in hexenbiests that is corrupting them. Notice that the much weaker adalind was more in control of herself than the powerful juliette, suggesting a possible correlation between the quantity of power and the corruption. Also, grimms and hexenbiests have a seemingly insurmountable aversion to one another as Nick and Juliette were unable to make their relationship work. Given this aversion it is still possible but very unlikely zerstorer is a hybrid, especially as this would potentially dilute the zauberbiest power or outright cleanse it with the grimm blood. </p><p>

Consider grimms to be a blank template. Introduced to magical power they become zerstorer, and over the generations diminish into the weaker hexenbiests. Exposed to animals, possibly with this power as a catalyst, the become the more common wesen. All of the species are related, but it may be that grimm lack the transformation because there is no outside material contributing to their power. As nick gains experience with other wesen, he develops additional abilities so we know this is a quality of their species. Basically, grimms are like evee from Pokémon and different stressors provoke different transformations. </p><p>

As far a Diana’s vision, we can’t really link that to her royal blood as the royals have not demonstrated any real power beyond the financial and political. We would have seen them woge in one of the many fights if they were able to do so. He vision is tied to the same energy as the staff and other hexenbiests which is why it triggers specifically in relation to these things. </p>

<p>I love the idea of Zerstorer being a Grimm! The idea that grimms are the origin of everything is something I hardly considered. I alwasy imagined them as being a constructed species to answer to the wesen threat. We really don't know what the actual value of royalty is. There isn't really any clear indication as to the nature of their power beyond the political. As for the staff being originally from the world, that isn't necessarily the case. the largest part of it was in the mirror world, and we know that zerstorer's species is invasive, but it is possible that time spent on earth sort of bound it to that world. Going off your idea, you could argue Nick's ability to weild the stick is the result of a sort of master lineage. The grimm line may have originally gained control of the staff's power and been corrupted by it while others avoided it. So allow me to amend my theory in this context. A superior race of humans, grimms, acquires access to the staff in its original form. The power it radiates corrupts some of the species, turning them into zerstorer (zerstoren?), and giving them supernatural powers. Some zerstorer spread out and lose the staff, but retain some of its powers. We know grimm can do this as we have seen Nick develop enhanced hearing and super strength upon contact with certain wesen stressors, as well as the lingering effects of the stick on both Nick and eve. These zerstorers, without the staff's imediate power and radiation, reproduce with humans, creating a corrupt strain called hexenbiests who retain a vestige of the staff's power. It would be like a baby being exposed to radiation in its mothers body. This may account for the difference between hexenbiest and zauberbiest. As zauberbiests can only contribute sperm, their offspring might be weaker than if the mother was a hexenbiest in the instance of cross breeding. this is because the fetus would have a much lower exposure to the power as it gestated in a powerless human. When we see adalind the first time, she had very little non-potion magic. This may be traced to constantly dilluting power through the generations. Her mom had the same issue. the contaminatio ritualis changes this. It even has the word contamination in it . Exposure to the radiated energy so directly supercharged Diana as she gestated in it and took the bulk, gave eve her powers, and even enhanced adalind beyond what she could previously do. this would explain why made hexenbiests are stronger as the radiation is fresh and potent. Now I add this; hexenbiests are corrupted members of the grimm lineage and seperate from any other wesen. They are even identified as different in the strength of blood spell. Grimm power, not contengent on radiation, does no dillute through reproduction by virtue of being dominant, and exposure to the original blood shocks the hexenbiest system enough to revert them, sort of exorcising the magical power rather than changing the dna. Other wesen may still be the result of deliberate or accidental crossbreading with animals and humans through spells or radiation of a different sort. Also, the inability of grimm blood to overide new hexenbiests may be related to the sheer volume of power they are exposed to. We could consider every supernatural species in the grimmverse to be an actual alien hailing from an alternate dimension or reality. The staff and its origin are key to all of this. Its abilities are tied directly to breaking the boundaries of different worlds. I still can't really explain why the stick wouldn't go through the mirror, but since the staff existed in the other world, we know it doesn't necassarilly have to come from out world. </p>

<p>Hexenbiest powers typically require concentration so a direct attack on their part can be interupted. They generally seem to lack any kind of esp so surprise attacks, especially sniping, seem to be a viable method. additionally, there seems to be a limit to how quickly they can recover from using their powers. Like a man picking up a desk and throwing it, they simply cannot leap immediatley to the next. This is seen in the delay between telekinetic attacks when Eve and Bonaparte fight. In this space there is the ability to bring the fight to a direct physical conforntation where a hexenbiest doesn't have time to focus a magical attack.  That said, many lack the sheer power to throw a person across the room or perform other meaningful attacks. For the truly powerful Hexenbiests, direct confrontation is ill advised. Grimm's have no inherent resistance to their power and can easily fall under their control if they are given the chance. The deaths of Henrietta, Bonaparte and Eve (almost) prove that regardless of power, surpise can kill them. </p>

<p>This is a story.  Look at how the writers would be able to create conflict and the necessity of conflict in the plot.  Diana is to powerful to be a good guy for very long.  It is the uderdog character that is usually the good guy so that there is serious pressure.  If Nick had Juliette's power, he could handle situations much more easily but the show would not have the conflict that propels it.  The same is true for Diana.  She is much easier to write as an antagonist than protagonist if she is to have a major role in the show.  Otherwise Nick becomes a useless character.  Kelly meanwhile is bound with a number of constraints including the fact that his powers will not develop for a while.  Going off the idea that power corrupts, if Kelly's  zauberbiest/grimm parentage make him immune to magic, that would paint a big target on him and Diana could try to remove him.  They can't be happy together because then there is no conflict.  At best, Diana is going to be doing her thing outside of Portland and trying to make a difference, occasionally showing up for some plot line or other, or she will heroiclly sacrifice herself.  Diana herself has no reason for familial attachment and I think it is likely that Julliette survives in order to prevent Diana from standing unopposed by someone with similar power.  Julliette is weaker though so she will likely be defeated, possibly killed, Nick goes on the offensive, Adalind is torn between children. There you have it.  I will be perfectly clear though Julliette and Adalind are like Harry Potter and Voldemort "neither can live while the other survives", one of them will have to die for Nick to find his ultimate match.  Diana and Kelly are only half siblings and have never met, having nothing in common other than their mother.  There will never be a show where Nick, Adalind, Julliette, Kelly and Diana are together and happy.  Forget it.  Its bad writing.  Dysfunction and division are what drives plot and character growth.  get over it. </p>

<p>This is what I had been thinking myself.  That such a potent potion from a very special book through a very special hat to become a very special hexenbiest like adalind created something of a bridge to the hexenbiest side f her through her human body. The hexenbiest gene at least is able to endure beyond the effects of the potion and because Juliette is superior in quality, perhaps certain genetic traits that would simply make for a superior specimen, the hexenbiest side manifests much more powerfully.  It might be thought of as an overdose, with literally the most powerful components possible being used i the spell on an ordinary human, her body might not be able to fully revert back to 100% Juliette and what she is left with is being biologically related to Adalind, alomst lack a sister. </p>

<p>Every Hexenbiest you just named is exceptionally powerful.  Juliette and Adalind are made hexenbiests and Elizabeth is powerful enough to not only work for the royals but powerful enough to catch a royals eye and win his affection.  Adalind before power restoral and Catherine are what we would consider to be average amongst hexenbiests, stong enough to be useful but weak enough that the royals didn't enlist them.  They demonstrated none of the abilities you described.  I want to fangirl all over hexenbiests too but reallisticly, Grimms can kill them.  Its their job.  Kelly killed Catherine.  Just as Nick could not physically confront the devil-like wesen because of the flames, so too does he have difficulties against hexenbiests, but his blood power establishes him a naturally superior.   </p><p>It is unlikely that a wesen-centric organization would entrust an ordinary person, a single man, to recover Adalind and her baby.  He wouldn't even be able to anticipate attacks if he can't see the woge.  For instance, if he encountered an enemy hexenbiest, he wouldn't be able to identify her as such unless she allowed it, and resultantly could not prepare to deal with her.  Between quills, scorpion tails, psychic powers, fire breathing, and the like, the ability to recognize your enemy is vital. </p>

<p>My biggest fears for this show arise fromthe possibility that such creatures as hexenbiests will be used to justify ressurection, time travel, reality warping, god-moding, or creating new magical issues that tak eover the plot like in The Vampire Diaries or Superatural.  It should retain the limitations we find in natural things, with clearly established constraints an limitations. </p><p>Regarding the earlier comment, when considering the self serving nature of hexenbiests, i find it unlikely that they would purposefuly create beings with the power to undo them with their blood.  Unless we consider te possibility that this power arose as a result of their essence producing them.  Something like a double-edged sword.  Henrietta was prepared for Nick, Adalind and Catherine were on the offensive, Frau Pech had no dealings with a Grimm, and Elizabeth was aware of Nick and not his enemy.  They have never been caught off gaurd like many of the other species.  I think that siegbarste koschie hexenbiests and the like (forgive the terrible spelling) all stand in the same area.  Koschie for instance can heal wounds at an immpossible rate and cure people, meaning that they can tap into a similar kind of power as hexenbiests.  Radiation could not explain the feats they accomplished. The excandesco ( again, sorry) was able to direst jets of firce from his hands in a conical fashion with no apparent method of projecting it in such a way.  With Catherine's performance agaist Kelly, it is likely that she is far weaker than such creatures.  They would be unlikely to fear her.  Hexenbiests are part of the upper crust, boasting abilities that the royals find useful, but not so powerful that they can't be controlled.  They would have to be a species that doesn't naturally pown everything otherwise they sould have take over the royals by now or been exterminated for being to great a liability.  The royals must be able to control them.   </p>

<p>I would add also that it is unlikely to retain such properties once combined into a zaubertrank.  Magical chemical reactions are bound to alter its normal effect. </p>

<p>Let me point this much out. Adalind, a hexenbiest with a lot of royal secrets and a royal miracle baby, is unlikely to be entrusted to anyone but the very best.  From Meisner to Kelly to Nick.  As Grimms are rather top of the food chain, you would expect the agents deployed to be around that level and as he lacks a woge up to this point, Gimm seems the most likely, perhaps as an eventual antagonistic match to Nick. </p>

<p>I think his hexenbiest heritage will grant him resistance or immunity to hexenbiest powers, something Nick and other Grimms lack.  Diana is so powerful that the writers, having given her rapid ageing, will have a hard time making her a protaganist as she could one shot most issues, having demonstrate ESP like abilities in addition to telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and the like.  She will appear as an antagonsit with Kelly being uniquely equiped to handle her. </p>

<p>I'm just gonna say it.  i love hexenbiests but I think where Kelly is concerned that we are going to be looking at a super Grimm and not a super Zauberbiest, not only because I maintain my belief that the Grimm side would naturally prove more potent, not removing the other side but certainly dominating it, but also as a matter of plot and narrative.  His sister has the subtle, feminine side of things with her powers and he will likely have the more brutish physical side.  Simply to balance one another out rather than being a repeating plot element.  In response to the earlier statement about underlying magical properties, I really hope that you are wrong.  I don't think you are, but i fear outright saying it is magic rather than the pseudo science they favored in the beginning will open them up to lazier plot and saying "cause its magic" as the reason that anything gets acomplished.  What we need to figure out for certain, and I think this will clear thing up greatly, is the exact nature of spirits in the Grimm universe.  Are they souls, astral projections, energy beings, life forces, essences, or some other variant on this? Should we consider them from a religous standpoint or strictly scientific?  If creating a potion was draining I would say they are tied to life force in some way, but also possibly bleeding some of the essence of their power away.  That could explain why Juliette has had little issue with her power up to this point as she would have plenty in reserve.  We know that some hexenbiest related force lingers in the terrestrial plane, so they endure in some way after death.  As it is capable of conscious decision we can conclude that it is sentient and possibly the bestial side of them.  Given that this is what Adalind's woge was tied to, i think it is likely the source of all woges, different spirits in different bloodlines, Not necassarily a soul, but rather a metaphysical essence that manifests.  We know about various natural spirits and demons of non human origin, and  I think the native American spirit caused physical change but I could be mistaken as its been a while since I watched the episode.  It is unlikely that hexenbiests are the source of wesen, but I think that they are one of the central species along with non-chimeric mythical wesen.  Hexenbiest tools and the extreme nature of woges makes me think that science has gone right out the door, but we know for a fact that this is ot just inherited spirits but manifests in the DNA so this is outright shapeshifting to such degrees that I would be surprised if it didn't bordeline on breaking the laws of conservation of mass and energy.  Realisticly, they shoul be drained of energy if the process occured through biological mechanisms. </p>

<p>The presence of aliens in this show would kill me.  I love that fairy tales come to life feel, but there is such a thing as to broad a world. It would be hard to go from aliens to human/animal hybrids (wesen) to magic like the contamiatio ritualis, alng with such things a demons and ghosts.  It all feels to disconected.  I could almost bear it if it tuned out to be something like elder gods or nature deities.  For my part, my original idea was that the origins were rooted in some sort of cross species virus that blended traits of animals into humans as they came into contact with the virus on the creature.  The virus dies off but the effects linger, giving rise to various wesen who pass along the mutated genes.  Can you tell me where i can find the discussion regarding aliens?  I have to consider all of my bases.  I suppose we could also lump the ghosts and demons we have seen as byproducts of alien meddling, possibly advanced biological weapons like Vulcanalis or energy beings like spirits. </p>

<p>In the instances we have seen such might displayed, the Hexenbiest in question is either made or special in Diana's case.  I think they are upper tier certainly, but i think even Juliette would be what we consider pureblood, or first generation, the power being fresh and undiluted thanks to the contaminatio ritualis.  I would add that they were up against regular upper tier wesen in such instances. What you are suggesting is something like what was demonstrated in the Underworld movie franchise, where the immortals gained their animalist traits after coming in contact with a creature, bat or worlf, specifically being bitten.  Running with your idea, hexebiests would be the main family of wesen wich could explain their powers as being an unfocused manifestation of what is possible for different wesen.  Cracher Mortels and Musai for instance demonstrate superior manipulative abilities compared to Hexenbiests, but this is their focus whereas Hexenbiests would be the base template.  Could it be possible then that the majority of mthical wesen originate in similar fashion, formin the branches from which others develop. Daemonfeurs for instance could be the source of many of the reptilian species we have seen and Anubis the source of canine and feline species.  We could consider that genetic differences in people fom different continents, unable to interbreed early on due to limited ability to travel, began to diverge, giving rise to the differences in the mythical races.  In Europe for instance, a less harsh environment where civilization developed quickly,  there may have been a movement towards the intellectual and mental faculties, so that whatever sparked the development of wesen resulted in Hexenbiests favoring mental powers over the physical.  In x-men, the mutants are the result of a rapid push in evolution and that may be what we are looking at here.  Hexenbiests are by far my favorite, even without the cool powers, but I just can't attribute te development of all wesen to them.  That being said, I would be surprised if they haven't had their hands in the cookiejar at some point.  We could consider that some races, such as the Gluhenvolk, are the result of their meddling as we do know for certain that zaubertranke can cause the development of a human into wesen and cause extreme changes.  Arguing against the dependency of Hexenbiests on the spirits for the moment, it is interesting that Adalind was unfamiliar with the powers she was dealing with when performing the ritual, so it is possible that they are extant but not vital to a Hexenbiests power.  It could simply be lingering vestiges of their power having come together with limited consiousness and if they choose to do so, they can cause a surge of power that replenishes the power in their kind.  Just to consider our options. </p>

<p>I don't particularly like the idea either because I would prefer their power to more personal and free of restriction.  Unfortunatley, there is a clear presence of such spirits.  It isn't that I don't like the expansion of creatures that ghost embody, but as you said we don't need the Vampire Diaries.  If they allow magic into this show it will open up a can of crazy that they will used as an excuse to bring back every character ever and a host of other weak plot points and lazy writing.  It is a cool idea that other wesen are the result of their meddling, and perhaps the bestial wesen stemm from the binding of animal essences into regular people, the woge state arising from some form of zaubertranke.  This wont take away from the fact that we are dealing with spirits in one way or another.  Another obstacle to this idea though is the blending od DNA, as it essentially disappears when not woged doesn't it.  I get a little hazy on those specific points, but the immediate switch to an entierly different set of DNA seems to push the boundaries of what could be accomplished solely through biology and psychic ability, especially without possibly causing cancer or other health issues.  Some of our confusion may be the result of the writers themselves not knwoig which direction to take this matter.  Your theory would essentially come down to all wesen of the modern day, possibly including hexenbiests, being the result of early experimentation through zaubertranke, but this seems to me a difficult feat.  They would have to not only perfect the postions for each species they gave rise to,though we could perhaps consider the products to be abominations and failures if they are merely survivors, and then allow for reproduction.  This would occur across the globe and it is hard to imagine that the same devlopmet occured powerfully enough in all parts of the world to enable this, and less likely that they would all go about creating wesen species.  It simply seems to much to accomplish and have all of the people experimented on reproduce, especially reproduce enough to spread most race across the world and survive in the early stages whenn there were few of them.  My final issue is with such individuals as the blobfish wesen.  It is exremeley unlikely that Haxenbiests would have knowledge of and the ability to capture such a creature to replicate its DNA by whatever means.   You are definentley right about magic and ghosts possession being the wrong thing for the show.  I liked it when i just thought they manifested psychic ability and used pseudo science potions.  It kept the race from being unrealisticly powerful. </p>
