Hexenbiest & Zauberbiest

<p>There have been numerous debates on whether hexenbiests are actually wesen or if they are another species within their own rights. I have often seen them as a different species, because of their makeup. But just what kind of makeup is it? </p><p>Is it a combined effort, where the sum (witch plus spirit) is greater than its parts? Is it a parasite/host relationship? If so, does the witch benefit at the expense of the spirit or does the spirit feed off of the witch? Is it an equal partnership where either the witch or the spirit can exert their powers at will? We know so very little about it. Is it a owner/slave relationship? </p><p>We saw how Adalind lost the spirit, and we saw her participate in a murder to get a new spirit. Is that the series' way of saying that hexenbiests are not born, but instead are made and it takes a murder to do so? And why is it that the spirit is destroyed, but the witch remains, albeit it a total human. </p><p>There are so many issues to the hexenbiest. They really are fascinating creatures. </p>

<p>I was interested why the authors of the series made bees the mortal enemies of the witches of the grimm universe. Bees are associated with the preservation of life with the natural forces of reality and hexenbiests are associated with death and messing with the natural forces of reality. Its even stated of all the vvesens grimms had good relationship with mellifers. </p><p>Also in celtic culture bees are thought as messangers from the spirit world and if hexenbiests are conmected to the vvesen hell maybe mellifers have some connection to some vvesen heaven. If dark magic in the grimm universe exists im assuming light or holy magic exists aswell. We see various vvesems throughout the series besides hexenbiests could harness mystical powers maybe theres a mystical element to mellifers aswell. On a side note dumbledores name is inspired by bees. </p>

<p>This has probably been addressed previously, but there is a lot of evidence suggesting the possible origins of wesen and magic as coming from zerstorers race enitrely. We know that there are many of them all possessed of great power, and it is the nature of this power that makes them particularly insteresting. </p><p>The blood potion used to combat him requried the blood of a grimm, a hexenbiest, and a wesen, drawing a clear distinction between hexenbiests and other wesen. With that in mind, there are numerous similarities between Zerstorer and the hexenbiests, from the decayed and monstrous appearance and glowing eyes to the use of magical powers and objects. Given the ability for hexenbiests to be manufactured and the choice of Diana as a mate, it seems very much a possibility that hexenbiests are a dilluted, but directly related species. This would explain their capacity to travel to the mirror dimension and the blood potion to harm but not defeat Zerstorer.  </p><p>Consider this theory. A powerful race with few members looking for a means to reproduce (Zerstorer), breed with humanity creating a race of beings with similar but more limited powers (Hexenbiests). This race is bred to produce higher quality breeding material the next go around. In Diana a perfect mate, a Hexenbiest at the hight of the races potential. Her offspring would allow for a new generation to be bred, possibly to repeat this process over again for a yet more powerful race. The magical force that resparked Adalind's powers coming directly from Zerstorer or his kind, the fresh and undiluted power gestating withing her and limiting the human taint in her daughter, a small portion of this accidentally passed on to Juliette during later conflicts. </p><p>Now consider the staff, at the very least a major source of power for Zerstorer, but possibly his origin. A race of people exposed to the power of the staff like radiation (possibly at this point a tree, perhaps the Tree of Knowledge or Ygdrassil), mutated into the decayed monsters that they are while developing great power. Nearby fauna similarly effected gaining hightened intelligence and gain the capacity to evolve beyond mere animals into semihuman beings. Alternatively, a lower cast of people are actively crossed with animals to be used as servants. Certainly the wesen in the mirror world were subservient to Zerstorer. Their inability to actively interact with the staff/tree and its power prevent them from developing the magical abilities Zerstorer and Hezenbiests demonstrate. Direct acts of manufacturing living weapons and tools result in monsters like vulcanalis and the tree monster. </p><p>The woge is the result of temporarily reassuming their original form, masking the other and truer form, and allowing for procreation with humanity. From this, the originals are greatly dilluted over time resulting in offspring who are increasingly human. </p><p>This is all conjecture and i would greatly appreciate thoughts and challenges to the idea. </p>

<p>So in the Miller story what was behind the house that the Zauberbiest would come back for in 3 years, I don't think it was the apple tree? </p>

I didn't know.) </p><p>From what we know, according to Sean Renard, there is a special difference between Zauberbiests and Hexenbiests, aside from the gender. This difference is very significant, as Adalind's mother's book wouldn't open to a Zauberbiest like Sean - only to Hexenbiests. </p><p>Now, in an interview with Sean's actor, Sasha Roiz, it is hinted that we are going to see a full Zauberbiest before this season ends. He says that the powers of a 100% Zauberbiest is badass, which hints it is something different from the telekinetic abilities of a Hexenbiest.  </p><p>Just what is this power? Laser beams? Energy balls?  </p><p>From what Sean can do, he has displayed incredible strength, but this is nothing special. From what we have seen, Hexenbiests also have superhuman strength. In the season 4 episode where Adalind fought Juliette, Juliette flipped a huge table with her bare hands... Sean doesn't have access to his full potential, since he is half human, unfortunately.  </p><p>Any of you guys have any guesses? </p>

<p>I mean, Adalind is really scared of her powers coming back, and what she did to that addict's fingers was weird, because if it was just a burst of random power she could have stopped him, or throw him across the room, or even make his head explote, but first she stopped him and then broke his fingers one by one, and for that you have to know what you are doing, and be cruel enough, it's not something that just happens. If her powers just made her empathy go away it could explain some of the things that she did, but she is afraid of going back to that path again, even if she knows better now, like it will make her go evil. It could explain what happened to juliette as well, instead of just not caring about others she wanted to hurt them, driven by some dark impulse. This theory would also explain why older hexenbiest are good, or just nicer but they don't have such harmful ideas and are more powerful, they managed to subdue the spirit, and instead of whispering to their ears to make them go evil they obey the hexenbiests and lend them their powers. </p>

<p>Given the fact that the species possesses a woge, i think we must still consider them wessen no matter the radical differences between tem and other species.  It is possible that they are one of the mythical races that developed alongside the bestial races, and that their powers stem from a certain dichotomy of their being, the physical and the spiritual.  They seem to be something of a cross between a zombie and a ghost, the existence of which is well documented in the series.  Their physically decayed form might allow for the seemingly more tenuous connection o their spirit.  This spirit endures in the world even after they die, forming a collective of hexenbiest spirits, who are able to make consious decisions, such as restoring Adalin's powers.  This would explain why there are ritualistic elements in the ritual to restore hexenbiest powers rather than purely biologicl means.  Consider that theur body essentially allows them to function as mediums, channeling not only their spirit but alo the spirits of those hexenbiests who endure in the world still and that their powers could stem from this.. It may be that all wesen are created through this way and that grimm's blood works on hexenbiests because of the more tenuous connection to their spirits.  Their woge allows them to better channel spirits, but requires a spirit of one's own to initiate.  Juliette may have gained the needed genetics to be a vessel for such spirits due to her time in Adalind's body, the DNA lingering in some way.  Made hexenbiests then are more powerful because the spirits suit them perfectly to receiving and channeling their power.  Zaubertranke could require this spiritual influence to work, sperating the seemingly magical powers of zaubertranke from the more mundane work of Rosalee, perhaps the essense of their kind being neccassary to funnel the power into the mix.  If Diana were channeling past spirits,  it would explain her extraordinary intellect as ababy, allowing her to direct Meisner specifically to get firewood rather that her psychic abilities starting a fire in the cabin, as she might have access to their collective knowledge and experiences.  The hands that blessed Adalind are accounted for in both what the mean, whose testing her, and where they come from.  It is possible that Sean's human side grounds his spirit, preventing him from reaching out to channel spirits or perform such feats as telekinesis. </p>

<p>It really seems like the show is giving hexenbiest the sexuallity of a sucubus. We have seen Adalind a numbe of times use her sexualllity to motivate men. I for one chalked it up to that's just Adalind. Then we see Juliette driven by the same urge. Um is this a hexenbiest trait, along with the urge for revenge.  </p><p>would make for one of the worst scorned girl friend ever. Anyone see the movie my super ex girlfrind, knows what that look like.  You add in the reference to the Roylas having a thing for hexenbiest. The king admitting they are some of the most valued and appricated beings in the Royal court.  We finally end with Juliette telling Kenneth let me show you how valued I can be. We all know that Kenneth is not one to be moved by a pretty face alone.   </p><p>As for Juliette and Sean. She asked him does this hurt, good. I am beginning to think he didn't have a choice. Notice after that we never saw Sean around Juliette.  </p>
